Safeway customers give back and “Help Feed Ability”
in support of Easter Seals Canada

Calgary AB – Easter Seals Canada to raise funds through the ”Help Feed Ability” Campaign at Safeway stores from June 30 – July 3, 2016.   During this year’s campaign, customers will be invited to donate $2.00 at Safeway check stands and receive five bonus Air Miles Reward Miles.

Media are invited to join us Wednesday, June 29 at 11:00 a.m. in Edmonton at the Windermere Safeway (located at 5110 Windermere Boulevard) and 11:00 a.m. p.m. in Calgary at the Aspen Safeway (located at 375 Aspen Glen Landing S.W.) photo opportunities and to celebrate the launch of this year’s in-store fundraising campaign.

Funds raised will support the Safeway Feeding Ability program, which is designed to get more children excited about eating and preparing healthy food, regardless of their ability. Easter Seals is promoting fun-filled cooking activities at camp and nutritional education through a website www.feedingability.ca.

In addition, funds will also support programs and services for Albertans with disabilities and medical conditions.

“The support we receive from Safeway and Safeway customers truly makes a difference for thousands of families in Alberta”, says Susan Boivin, CEO, Easter Seals Alberta. “Thank you for supporting children and adults living with disabilities and medical conditions.”

“Providing support to individuals living with disabilities has been a long-standing tradition of our Company and something that is very close to the hearts of our employees. At Safeway, we choose to look at an individual’s abilities rather than their disabilities. In addition to holding fundraising campaigns like this one, Safeway supports people living with disabilities year-round through corporate funding and by providing meaningful work opportunities in our stores and distribution centres across Western Canada.” – Dave Rodych, Vice President Retail Operations, Safeway, Sobeys Inc.

This 2016 campaign marks the tenth year Safeway has partnered with Easter Seals Canada to help provide support to those living with disabilities. Thanks to the efforts of Safeway employees and the generosity of Safeway customers, over $8.5 million has been raised through this long standing partnership.
