Edmonton’s first Woman2Warrior event

Hundreds of women transform into warriors at Edmonton’s first Woman2Warrior event.

Edmonton, AB- Almost 200 participants, ages 15 and up, will become true warriors at the 2016 WOMAN2WARRIOR Edmonton, a women’s only charity obstacle adventure race benefiting Easter Seals Alberta on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Canadian Forces Base, Edmonton Garrison.

Woman2Warrior Edmonton is an optional timed event covering five kilometres of trails, and terrain. The course features obstacles to test participants’ strength, agility, balance, and sense of adventure. Participants should be prepared to lift, climb, crawl, jump, run and walk. In completing the race, event participant must raise a minimum of $300 which will help adults and children with disabilities and medical conditions.

“We are excited to bring this event to the City of Edmonton,” says Darla Zuk, Events Manager at Easter Seals Alberta.”It will be the first time an event like this will take place at a Canadian Forces Base.”

There will be a crane provided by Sarens Canada for an aerial view of the site.  Photographers with Fall Arrest certification will be permitted on the crane to take photos of the event from a unique vantage point.

The competitive times waves go from 9:00-9:30 a.m., and the recreational waves go from 9:45-11:45 a.m.  Daintre Christensen will be participating in the event and she is scheduled to start this race at 1:45.   Activities scheduled from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. include:

  • Campers Village Kids Zone
  • Bumper Balls
  • Food Trucks
  • Small Arms Training
  • Lexus of Edmonton – Car Display
  • Show ‘n’ Shine (weather permitting)

There will be an awesome Trade Show inside the Drill Hall featuring over 35 exhibitors selling their products and services.  Other activities inside the Drill Hall includes:  massage therapists, speakers (10:00, 11:00, and Noon), fashion show (12:30) and magician (1:00 pm).

At the Closing Ceremonies, hosted by Daintre Christensen, which begins at 1:30 p.m., awards and prizes will be given out for the top overall fundraisers, competitive race winners, best costumes, and event cheque presentation.
