Kevin Karius Easter Seals Celebrity Golf Tournament celebrates 25 years!

EDMONTON – Albertans are gearing up for the 25th Annual Kevin Karius Easter Seals Celebrity Golf Classic, presented by Prism Flow Products, on Wednesday, July 6 at the Belvedere Golf and Country Club.  This year, 165 golfers will tee-off at 9:00 a.m. to enjoy a beautiful day of golf in support of Albertans with disabilities and medical conditions.

Honorary Chair Kevin Karius is pleased the tournament has been in the community for more than 23 years. To date, more than a million dollars has been raised through this event and the fundraising continues for people living with a disability. Media and sports celebrities join each team to add some celebrity excitement to the day.

The day concludes at 3:00 p.m. with a prime-rib dinner and live and silent auction.  “This event is celebrating 25 years of supporting Albertans with disabilities,” says Kevin Karius, Sports Anchor for Global Television. “A big thanks to the community for their wonderful support!”

The money raised helps Easter Seals Alberta continue Easter Seals Camp Horizon, which annually helps over 1,200 Albertans have an adventurous summer camp experience. Funds are also used to purchase power wheelchairs, scooters, and lifts, through the Equipment & Support Services Department, and operate the McQueen Residence which is a home for adults living with disabilities.

Did You Know Part 1

In 1951 Canadian Mothers began marches such as one led by Canada’s first female Cabinet Minister, Ellen Fairclough, MP for Hamilton West. As a result of their efforts, the research of Dr. Jonas Salk was well funded, creating the historic made-in-Canada cure for polio. Today, Easter Seals Alberta funds vital programs and services for adults with disabilities and special needs.
