Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, as awareness and advocacy for disability inclusion grew, Easter Seals Alberta expanded from primarily seasonal programs to providing year‑round supports. Camp Horizon evolved during this period to welcome more children, youth, and adults with increasingly diverse needs.
Residential and adult services also emerged, reflecting a growing recognition that independence and support extend well beyond childhood. At the same time, the organization broadened its focus to support not only individuals with disabilities, but also the families and caregivers navigating the realities of long‑term disability.

During the 2000s, Easter Seals Alberta expanded its impact beyond recreation to include practical supports for daily life. New and strengthened programs focused on mobility and accessibility equipment, post‑secondary scholarships, and supports that helped reduce financial barriers to participation.
This era marked a meaningful shift toward empowering individuals to learn, work, travel, and live with greater independence.

Throughout the 2010s, Easter Seals Alberta expanded its reach and strengthened its role as a trusted province‑wide support system for families navigating increasingly complex disability seasons. Demand for services grew significantly, driving continued investment in accessibility supports such as mobility equipment, adaptive home solutions, and post‑secondary scholarships, alongside stable residential living at McQueen Home and expanded programming at Camp Horizon.
During this decade, the organization deepened partnerships, increased transparency and outcome reporting, and shifted from delivering isolated programs to supporting whole families through integrated, life‑course approaches at every stage of life.

Entering the 2020s, Easter Seals Alberta adapted quickly to a changing world, responding to the COVID‑19 pandemic by launching and expanding virtual services that maintained connection, recreation, and support during a period of widespread isolation.
As in‑person programs resumed, the organization combined decades of experience with modern, data‑driven and flexible approaches, expanding accessibility supports, family resource navigation, and transition‑to‑adulthood services while investing in long‑term sustainability at Camp Horizon and McQueen Home. A pivotal milestone in 2024 saw Easter Seals Alberta and The Children’s Link Society merge operations, significantly broadening reach and strengthening whole‑family, life‑course supports across the province.
Today, Easter Seals Alberta brings together more than 75 years of experience that allows us to deepen accountability, measure impact more clearly, and grow community partnerships remaining firmly focused on inclusion, independence, and belonging for the next 75 years and beyond.
