Meet Our 2024 Ambassadors!

For 2024, Easter Seals Alberta has two outsanding people representing us as our ambassadors. These roles involve coming out to events, creating content for our online platforms, and simply representing Easter Seals Alberta.

Elise is our Southern Alberta ambassador this year. She has been a camper at Easter Seals Camp Horizon since 2018 and looks forward to camp every summer. Camp Horizon is the place where Elise discovered that she is very passioante about helping others.

“The counsellors and campers make me feel cared for, and comfortable enough to share my point of view, which I believe is so important for everyone. As such, I have felt good enough about myself to reach out and help others around the camp when I notice they might be struggling.”

Elise is heavily involved in her community and enjoys playing hockey, basketball, swimming, ice skating, and skiing. She is active in the community in other ways as well, even being invited to do the official puck drop at a Hitmen game on behalf of the Developmental Disabilities Resource Centre.

She is very excited to represent Easter Seals Alberta and continue to help provide other Albertans with the programs and services our organization provides.

AidanLee is our Northern Alberta ambassador this year. He was a recipient of our Accessible Technology and Mentorship Program scholarship last year.

He struggles to write using a pen and pencil, so he applied for the scholarship to get a laptop with a touchscreen. The laptop allows him to work complete class work easier and also has a voice text function, which also helps as he has trouble with speech.

He describes one of his greatest strengths as his ability to bring people together and foster relationships. His ultimate goal is to become an advocate and leader within his city, pushing for change that will benefit everyone.

“I strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and valued. I make it my mission to visit and have engaging conversations with various adults in the school daily as I firmly believe that having these connections and taking the time in my day to build relationships with people make it easier to have hard conversations about inclusivity when it matters.”

At just fourteen, AidanLee has already faced many challenges in his life, but he is very excited to continue the advocacy work he is already doing and represent Easter Seals Alberta in the North of the province.

We can’t wait to see what these two incredible people will accomplish as our ambassadors. Please join us in congratulating them on being leaders in the Easter Seals Alberta community!
