Phyllis Davidson Easter Seals Scholarship was created in loving memory of Phyllis Davidson and offers post-secondary academic scholarships to students living with physical disabilities.
Each year one $20,000 scholarship will be awarded to a successful applicant at $5,000 per academic year for four years.
An additional $5,000* is available for extraordinary educational expenses for the student related to their disability.

Please note: Phyllis Davidson Easter Seals Scholarship funds are to be used only on educational expenses (i.e. tuition, books, technology, etc.).
Eligibility
To qualify, you must be a current student or candidate for admission into a post-secondary institution within Alberta, living with a physical disability. Students should be attending a minimum of two courses per semester, pursuing an academic or professional program leading to a degree or diploma.
Application Process
To apply, please complete the Application Form.
Once you have completed the form, you will receive an email asking for these additional documents to complete your application:
- One (1) Character reference letter of reference describing the reasons the applicant would be a worthy recipient of the scholarship. This application should highlight the contribution to the community, academic achievements and other accomplishments;
- One (1) Academic letter of reference from a teacher at the applicant’s school or from an individual who is familiar with the applicant.
- A one (1) page personal letter indicating your school experience, your career aspirations and how your disability affects your life.
- An up-to-date, certified academic transcript.
- Documentation from healthcare provider confirming diagnosis.
Applications for the 2024-2025 academic year will be accepted from April 1, 2024 until June 30, 2024.
All supporting documents must be received by June 30th at midnight to Scholarships@easterseals.ab.ca

Successful Applicants
If you are selected as a successful applicant you will be required to provide the following documents:
- A Signed Media Release and Photo
- A letter of appreciation to the donor.
- Social Insurance Number for T4 purposes
- Confirmation of Enrolment to your Post-Secondary Institute
Continuing Successful Applicants
Once you have been selected as a successful applicant you will be required to provide the following documents on an annual basis in order to continue:
- Updated Photo
- A letter of appreciation to the donor, indicating the results of the previous school year, how the scholarship assisted their career aspirations, how their physical disability affects their life, and how they have benefited
- Confirmation of Continued Enrolment to your Post-Secondary Institute
- Updated transcript
These supporting documents must received by Scholarships@easterseals.ab.ca by May 31st at midnight.
Incomplete applications will not be considered. Recipients will be announced in August 2024.
